Drupad - Drupal on the go App Reviews

Nifty, but expensive

I like the features of this app and definitely see the potential, so Im willing to stick with it to see it grow into something really useful. However, $5? I dont mind paying for a good app that promises high value, but this one is really only worth $.99.

Ditto: nifty, too expensive

I guarantee youll see your purchase stats improve if you offer this at a more reasonable price. $1.99 is fair. Otherwise this would be a 5-star review. Also please, please add Drush support!

Solid with Potential

Awesome start and I can see some incredible potential here. As a site developer, I have dozens of client sites Im always needing to check in on. This gives me the tools in my pocket. I can also envision this being great for my clients as well, being able to maintain their content and comments on the go. For those complaining about the price tag, Im not sure I can agree...sure maybe its a bit much for someone just running a personal blog, but come on, its 5 bucks, not 50! Id say as long as this continue to integrate with new modules (I second a request for Drush integration!) and grows, it will be a fantastic tool for serious Drupal users. The only annoying thing in the current version is that you cant edit site bookmarks. When I first added my site I mistyped something 4 times in a row...since there was no edit button next to my site listing, I had to delete it and start over. If they fix that, I have no complaints.

does not work

Could not get this to work.. tried all troubleshooting steps on readme.txt also

Functional App w/ a lot of potential

Definitely cant wait for more updates! Drupad is begging for a WYSIWYG editor with photo and video upload capabilities (coming soon, please?) That said, the app works well after a little work. I had to modify my .htaccess file using the first suggestion in the Readme file. Had it working after 5 minutes or so. The main reason I decided to buy the app was for the comment approval feature which works perfectly. Still really want a way to post blog entries while on the go. 4/5 stars because the extra work required to make it work and the lack of a content creation feature, but definitely a great app for what it offers and it has a lot of potential!

Cool Concept needs a lot of work

This is a very cool app for VERY basic administration for a site. It has. HUGE amount of potential though. I really want to have the ability to: add permissions to users, create new nodes and edit user profiles. Ill add more stars as these are done. Being able to add nodes especially ones with a date field is very important.

Needs a bit more of work

But it provides some basic options that help in the administration of your CMS.

Wait for new update

App crashes back to iPhone screen as soon as it is launched, had to roll back to the previous version of Drupad.

It works as promised

It works as promised, now that it will soon have content creation it deserve 5 stars otherwise just 3 or 4 at the most.

Works great!

Great tool for drupalers who need to manage multiple sites on the go.

Decent App

Great for quick login and quick modifications. Not the greatest option for editing. Ill have to stick to a computer for most of it. Works great though for checking the status of installed modules.

Indispensable!

This app continues to get better and better with every (free!) update. Content creation works flawlessly with custom fields and taxonomy -- unlike every other generic blogging app on any device. The system administration tools are robust and let the admin on-the-go handle necessary daily tasks and even some emergency repairs from her phone. The only downside of this compared to other blogging apps is that this has no offline support, you must make your edits and upload your photos directly to your Drupal website. NOTE: Drupad may not work in some shared hosting environments that use PHP under a cgi script (as opposed to mod_php).

Not ready

This is far from a "buy and use" app. One must install a Drupal module on the website (think FTP). Then choose a pin (the use of which is a mystery), then hope your web host server is using software that works with Drupad. I want this app to work -I paid $5 for it- Im sure it does work with enough setup, but for the average user, this app is not ready. It is not ready graphically (x2, boo), the help file is hard to read, and the setup is too finicky and/or complicated. Despite my critique, I hope the developer fine tunes this app. It could be very helpful and valuable.

Youre on your own with picky setup

Sure, you must download a separate Drupal module, upload it to your web server, activate and configure the module and the modules permissions, and create a site entry in Drupad. All of that extra setup isnt what makes this app so bad. What will really frustrate you is when you finally attempt to connect to your site, and you encounter helpful error messages like "Oops, the connection did not succeed." What does that mean? Did the server not respond (type-o in the address)? Did the log in fail (bad credential)? Is the Drupad module on the server not responding? Is the Drupad module, or its permissions incorrectly configured? It would have been as helpful if the error was "Sorry, that didnt work." Add to that when you start Drupad, it forces you to establish a pin. You must enter that pin every time you start it. Why? Apple already provides a way to lock my device that works just fine. I couldnt find any way to disable this annoying "feature". I would really like to have an app like this, but, with its unhelpful errors and complex setup, Im not prepared to waste hours and hours changing permissions/settings on my site in a guessing game to determine why "connection didnt succeed."

Not ready

Im sorry but I have to agree with an earlier review. The error messages are not telling and not helpful at all! Please make the user experience more friendly!

Not a bad app for Drupal, NEEDS iPad version

Way nicer than trying to edit with the Drupal admin pages. Not sure its $4.99 better, not without an iPad version. PLEASE bring us an iPad version.

Im not happy

This app lets me do nothing-- as in it does not work at all.

too buggy to be worth 5 dollars

Could be pretty awesome but its really buggy and crashes on me. I would recommend saving your 5 dollars for now and purchasing it in 6 months when some of the kinks are worked out.

Works ok in some areas, crashes in others

Drupad is great for some basic functions, like reviewing comments. But whenever I try to Create Content, I get the message "Downloading form…" and then it crashes. This app would be a killer five-star one if I was able to actually use it to post new content.

Not working

The app looks promising but now it doesnt work. Just ordered a latest version (May 07, 2012) - i can login, can see comments, users, but cant create a content - even basic page without extra fields! When i am trying - i am getting message "Downloading form" and after several seconds app crashes....
